The Lady Commodores headed into the NJCAA State Tournament on a hot streak having won 9 out of their last 10 games.  That trend continued in Ocala as they breezed through the competition winning their games by an average of 25 points.

First up for the Lady Commodores was The College of Central Florida.  They would easily win that game 90-51, Taylor Emery led the women with 23 points.

Up next the Gulf Coast women had a semi-final matchup with Tallahassee Community College which is one of only two teams to beat the Lady Commodores during the regular season.  However, the women were up to the challenge and with strong 3-point shooting from Taylor Emery and Maria Castro who combined to go 7-14 from downtown the Lady Dores would dispatch TCC by as score of 99-69.

The win led to a finals matchup against Chipola College the only other team to beat the Lady Commodores this season. This would be the women’s closet game and the Lady Commodores did trail by 2 points at halftime, but they would not give up and finished off their tournament run by beating Chipola 80-72.

Up next…a trip to Lubbock for the NJCAA Division I National Championship where the Lady Commodores are the #1 seed and looking to repeat as National Champions.  The team will be leaving for Lubbock Friday, March 17th at 8am.
