With the basketball season over it’s time we switch gears to baseball here at Gulf Coast State College. The FCSAA State Tournament is just a couple weeks away and every game means more than the previous one. The Commodores baseball team boasts a healthy 31-14 record on the year but there has been struggles in the conference. Currently the Commodores are in 4th place in the Panhandle Conference, ½ a game behind Tallahassee Community College in third place, a crucial spot to be in to make a wildcard game in the State Tournament. The Commodores split back to back games with Tallahassee on Friday and Saturday, losing the first but coming back on Saturday and getting the win. The Commodore Baseball Team has 4 conference games left before the start of the tournament. Two of these games come versus Chipola College who lead the conference with a 18-3 record and two versus Pensacola State who are last in the division. If the Commodores want to move into that third spot they are going to have to keep winning and hope Tallahassee loses a game or two. You can catch the Commodore baseball team this Friday April 21st at Frazier Field when they take on Chipola College.
