David Joyner is a native to Panama City. He attended high school at Rutherford High School. In 1992, graduated then enlisted in the United States Navy. David proudly served his country for the next four years.

In 1997, David discharged from the Navy, to return home to start on a new path. In 1998, David enrolled at Gulf Coast Community College in the Firefighter Minimum Standards Class. He was a member of the 7th class that graduated in 2000.

David started his career in the fire services with the City of Callaway Fire and Emergency Services. He continued his education at Gulf Coast Community College where in 2006, he received his Associate of Sciences degree in Fire Science Technology.

David’s love for his job showed in everything he did. In 2003, the Lions Club awarded him the Firefighter of the Year. He shined as he climbs the ranks in the department going from firefighter to Engineer, to Lieutenant and receiving the highest rank he can receive of Chief.

David’s career is all about giving back to the community. He recalls the day he was in New York at the Ground Zero after the attack on our nation to help his brethren’s, he had the unique opportunity to see the community and fire department come together to present a financial gift to the family members of the 9/11 victims.

David’s is passionate about the fire department being more than a department that fights fires to a department who fight fires and helps the community, even if the community member is not an FSU football fan.

Student Author - Spring 2017

Maryann is a designer, front-end developer and family gal. I like to doodle over fonts and pour through code. Designing web interfaces has to be one of the most challenging and rewarding careers, next to teaching. Requiring constant upgrading of knowledge, meeting demanding deadlines and finding solutions to criticism. And that’s why I love it. In my spare time, I spend as much time with my family Geocaching and playing Pokemon Go. I have an incredibly family and patient husband, James and three wonderful children. Chances are, you’ll find me either in front of a computer screen, at school, or with my family.
