Looks Like We’re Not in Olympus Anymore…
God of War for the Play Station 4 was released on April 20, 2018 with much hype following it. The new PS4 game is a whole new look at the God of War franchise as a whole. This is the eighth installment of the God of War series and is also God of War 4.
The new game follows Kratos and his son Aterus as they venture out. They learn to control their anger or “sickness”. God of War now takes place in Norse mythology; Odin, Thor, Loki, Ragnarok are all featured in the game. Zeus and the other gods are not in the game. Unlike before, there is no senseless violence. Kratos has become a mentor to his son. Instead of wielding double blades, Kratos now holds a magical axe and sports a pretty sweet beard.
Reviews
God of War’s revamp has received a 95 from Metacric and a 10 from IGN, This game has received high reviews and praise from many – even being compared to the 2013 game The Last of Us. It ranks high for it’s combat, characters, world, visuals, and adventure (story).
“[With] his vengeance against the gods of Olympus far behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the lands of Norse Gods. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive…and teach his son to do the same. As mentor and protector to a son who determines to earn his respect from Kratos. Kratos must master the rage that has long become him. He hopes to make amends for the shortcomings of his past and dark lineage he’s his son now shows. Set within the untamed forests, mountains, and realms of Norse lore, God of War features a distinctly new setting with its own pantheon of creatures, monsters, and gods.”
