Scary Stories to Tell in the dark is a horror film directed by André Øvredal and Guillermo Deltoro. It tells the story of teenagers who find a strange book thats events come to life, these teens must try to survive the monsters this books produce. André Øvredal is a director and writer known for his work on The autopsy of Jane doe and troll hunter. This is his biggest budget film to date. Guillermo Deltoro is a writer, producer, and director known for his work on Pans labyrinth , hellboy and Pacific Rim. He is also know for his very unique character design and visuals. Zoe Margaret Colletti who plays Stella is known for her work on Annie (2014) and wildlife. Michael Garza who plays Ramon is an actor who is known for his roles in Hunger games and wayward pines. Gabriel Rush who plays Auggie is known for his roles in Moonrise kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and no letting go. The movie is based on the book of the same name which came out in October 14 1981. Other cast include Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, and Lorraine Toussaint. The music in the film was done by Marco Belatrami who is known for his work on Scream, Resident Evil, and Hellboy, this is not his first time working with Deltoro. It was edited by Roman Osin. Development began in 2013 when CBS films got the rights the book series it got a writer in 2014. In January of 2016 it was announced that Guillermo Deltoro was going to develop the film.and to produce it. In February 2016 Dan and Kevin Hageman were brought on to fix up the the draft written by August, and before that the script was written by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton In December 2017 André Øvredal was brought on to direct. In August of 2018 Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Austin Abrams, Gabriel Rush, Austin Zajur and Natalie Ganzhorn where brought onto the cast. In December of that year Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint and Javier Botet also joined. Filming began on Aug 27 2018 and ended on November 1st. The first footage of the film was shown at the Superbowl. The film does not currently have any reviews.
