The Amazing Bill Frazier

It’s Fall Baseball season and it’s a good time to talk about the amazing coach Bill Frazier. Bill Frazier was born April 4, 1938 in Ellwood City, PA. Frazier started coaching at Gulf Coast State College. He spent 24 years coaching at Gulf Coast and won 71% of their games. Under his leadership the Commodores won 11 conference titles, one state championship, and finished second place in a national championship. Ten of his players went on to play professional baseball. He is a member of three hall of fame: The National Junior College Baseball Hall of Fame, The Florida Community College Hall of Fame, and The Bay County Sports Hall of Fame. He played for the New York Yankee minor league and was a scout for the Kansas City Royals. Bill Frazier married Geannie in 1960 and they had two sons. He was a great father and husband. Sadly Bill Frazier left this world too soon at the age of 54. One evening him and his wife was getting ready for dinner and she walked into the dining room and found him unconscious. He had passed of a heart attack. It was a sad day for his family and Gulf Coast State College. Bill Frazier had a good life and helped many athletes. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest coaches in the state of  Florida. That is why Gulf Coast State College was honored to name its baseball field Bill Frazier Field. His legacy will live on forever.
