About the Exhibit.

The Visual & Performing Arts Division of Gulf Coast State College presents the Twelfth Annual Cup Show: Form and Function. It is going to be a juried exhibition that explores the idea of the drinking vessel.

The central theme of the show is the function and concept of the drinking vessel. Consequently, including its relation to history, politics, craft, technology, utility, and narrative. Because it is a survey of the wide variety of approaches to contemporary ceramics through the lens of the most intimate and accessible vessel – the cup. The juror for this year is Peter Pincus.

Past Exhibits.

Michael Ashley, Wine Cup, earthware

In the past, The Annual Cup shows have brought creativity in the form of a drinking container. From drinking vessels that have an earthy appeal, all the way to some with a hidden message. These cups will make you think about politics and social commentary.

In addition, because it is more than just a cup, but rather what the vessel represents to the author, audiences will see firsthand the hard work that has gone into these exhibition pieces.

Above all, it is the way an artist conveys life, struggles, and the pursuit of art to their audience. Maybe most noteworthy of all is that each artist creates a unique piece. These pieces are able to stand individually, allowing the audience to interpret what they see in these drinking vessels.
