It’s just the second year for Gulf Coast State College Volleyball head coach Scott Allen. This was their first year playing at the National Tournament, which was held in Charleston, West Virginia. They entered the tournament as the No. 6 seed. They went up against McHenry College out of Illinois for the first round. Unfortunately, unforced errors played a big part in them losing them game in round 1. They originally won the third and fourth set, but got behind in the 5th. They ended the round 24-26, 20-25, 25-17, 25-18, and 11-15. Coach Allen is still proud of his team because they fought to the end and didn’t roll over. They are looking forward to next year. They don’t have a chance for the National Title, but went up next for the consolation round against Oakland College out of Michigan. They beat Oakland and then went on to beat the No. 7 team Northeast. Today, they went up against No. 9 Kirkwood. The game went five sets with before the Lady Commodores fell to Kirkwood. Richards, for the Lady Commodores had the highest with 18 kills and Passarello had 15 kills. The Lady Commodores still have so much to be proud of! They won their first regional title and first time at nationals. They finished the season ranked No. 10 in the nation! Go Lady Commodores!
