It’s that time of year again.  The temperatures are dropping, the city is decorating, and the stores are preparing for the masses.  Ahhhh, Christmas. With the holidays approaching, many people are turning their thoughts to putting up their trees, decorating their homes, and celebrating in the festivities that come along with the season.

But for the weary college student, it’s the most stressful time of the semester.  .  .that’s right, it’s FINALS WEEK!  The word itself can strike fear into even the most prepared and organized degree seeker.  It’s the most dreaded “F-word” on campus this time of year, and as we approach the close of yet another semester, some of us are just hoping to skate out with a passing grade.  We begin our ceremonial late night study groups, starving ourselves so we can squeeze in just one more hour of last minute note taking, diving into cup after cup of coffee so we can get through the following day, and of course, griping about it to anyone who will listen.

If it all sounds too overwhelming, consider coming down to the GCSC Library next week for the annual Exam Slam event.  The SGA will be providing snacks and drinks on Sunday from 4-8 p.m., and Monday through Wednesday night from 6-10 p.m., so you can keep your strength up while you’re cramming in all that research.

Whether you’ve just started your long trek, or you’re reaching the light at the end of the tunnel, remember, “Only YOU can prevent forest fires”.  Some of you are like, “Wait, WHAT?!”  In other words, if you burn the candle at both ends, eventually, you’re going to run out of wax.  Don’t burn yourself out!

This time of year brings lots of stress, so please remember that no matter how full your schedule, take time out and surround yourself with the love and support of family and friends.  They’ll be happy to remind you that the hard work is all worth it!

Happy Holidays from your Student Government Association!
