Commodore Basketball Making Waves

The Gulf Coast State College Men’s basketball team rises to a number 1 ranking in the state after a few weeks of play. These young men have had a strong start to their season. They are accomplishing this with their first year coach, Phil Gafney. They have had two wins over nationally ranked teams. This helped move them up to a ranking of number 10 nationally. Coach Gaffney points out that it definitely helps with recruiting to have these rankings. On December 3 they took on LBW and won 109-64. They will travel December 6th to take on Polk State.

     The Lady Commodores basketball team continues to be a dominant team in their division. Coach Scovel and her players are ranked number 1 in the state and ranked number 1 nationally. The Commodores have six national titles which include three of the last four titles. They had a seventeen day break between games. One December 3 they took on LBW and won 76-36. The ladies will be hosting The Women’s Basketball JUCO Shootout Dec. 6-7 from 11:00 AM-7:00 PM. Go Commodores!!!!
