Movie time.
On Oct. 22nd Seminole Landing announced that they would be hosting a movie night for FSU and GCSC students. The event took place on Oct. 23rd at 7 p.m. and was held at Florida State University’s Panama City campus amphitheater.
When asked by Jakob Monroe what movie would be played in a reply to their Instagram post, Seminole Landing answered with The Nightmare Before Christmas. The film was produced by Tim Burton and follows the tale of a Halloween skeleton trying to rule Christmas. With the holidays kicking off the upcoming weeks, it seemed like an appropriate movie to choose.
About the hosts.
Seminole Landing is a student housing development being built by Florida State University at their Panama City campus. While it was originally intended for FSU students, they have also allowed GCSC students to lease rooms there as well. Even though it is still under construction, the people behind the project have been hard at work the past few months since it was announced. They have been especially active on social media, where they post regularly about events, giveaways, and information about the building. While they will not be housing students until the fall semester of 2021, they have already started leasing rooms to qualified students.
Spooky Season is here
As for the movie of choice, The Nightmare Before Christmas was originally released on Oct. 13th, 1993 into theatres. It has a 95% rating score on rotten tomatoes and an 8/10 on IMDb. The Rolling Stone even called it a “dazzling mix of fun and fright” in a review of the movie. With all of the critical acclaim, it is easy to see why they would chose this movie for the event.
It is unknown whether Seminole Landing plans on doing any more movie nights like this before they open their door next fall. However, if students want to stay up to date on events from them then they should be sure to check out their Instagram page.
