Seth Johnson is a 19-year-old Gulf Coast State College student. Seth is a digital media/multimedia major student. He commutes to school and back at a distance of 65 miles, which is 1.5 hours twice a week. Seth’s gas on his car gets him good milage, which is 30 miles per gallon. His weekly cost of gas is around $30 a week give or take. Driving to and from campus plays a big role in the costs in gas.
Seth makes this long drive because he currently lives with his parents. Housing can be really expensive these days. Seth works a part-time job, so he saves a lot by living with them now. He does think that it is very inconvenient to drive that far, but it is the best option he has at the moment.
Seth would much rather live closer. He knows it would be much more convenient, but with the current prices offered it can’t happen right now. Seth would consider living on campus if it was an option. He does know that they are working on dorms right now with Seminole Landing.
Entertainment In The Car
When I asked Seth if he enjoyed his drive he told me that he does not, but that podcasts help. He recently started a new podcast called, “Hardcore History”, by Dan Carlin. He likes that he can cruise and learn at the same time. It is kind of like taking a history class on wheels. Construction has added time to his drive, but another plus is that they finally cleared it up and he can shave time off, but the drive is still pretty far.
Seth is another long-distance commuting student but does what he can to make the drive enjoyable. He is a hard worker and a great student. I know we will go far in life.
