Black Friday Bargains

It is Black Friday again, meaning that Hulu has rolled out their annual, heavily discounted, yearlong subscription plan, which could mean huge savings for their college student consumers. According to Hulu’s website, the plan will start at $1.99 per month for the first 12 months before resuming the normal cost of $5.99 per month. This would make the subscription a total of $24 for the entire year, which the website claims will save their buyers, “65% off the regular price of Hulu.”

More Bang for your Buck!

This is the third year in a row that Hulu has been offering such low prices for their services around the time of Black Friday. In 2018 Hulu had announced that for Cyber Monday they would be new customers the opportunity to buy a year’s subscription for $0.99 a month. At the time Hulu’s monthly rate was $7.99, so customers would have been saving roughly 88% in comparison. However, in the years following, the discounted price has since been raised to $1.99 per month, while the normal subscription rate has dropped to $5.99 per month.

While the savings margin has shrank, it is still a significant amount of money in comparison to its competitors such as Netflix and Disney+. Hulu’s annual Black Friday Deal is incredibly beneficial to college students who want quality entertainment for a low cost. They stream an amazing line up of content to watch, from classic dramas such as Law & Order: Specials Victims Unit, reality shows like Dr. Pimple Popper, and even newer releases such as the newest reboot of Animaniacs, along with the original 1993 cartoon as well.

Terms and Conditions

That all being said, “There are a couple of restrictions to keep in mind.”, as stated by Business Insider. Specifically, this deal is only applicable to either new customers or old ones who have not been subscribed for at least three months. You also cannot take part in this deal if you participated in the Black Friday $1.99 subscription deal last year. The Hulu websites has a timer ticking down until 11:59 p.m. Nov. 30 PST. After that potential customers will have to wait another year to hopefully get another chance at saving on the streaming service.
