For most of WKGC’S lifetime, the radio station has been using the IBOC HD system. This allows the station to have three different broadcasts attached to one signal. This brings up the opportunity for the station to cover lots of ground. By having three different broadcasts, the station has a lot of freedom.

HD1 has always been the primary broadcast and is the one that gets the most listeners due to most people not owning an HD radio anymore. That means it’s contained for more official broadcasts, such as the Morning Mix. This is often the most recognized broadcast, as they often bring on guests to talks about all sorts of events going on around Panama City Florida. Another show on HD1 is Boomer Bill’s Rock n’ Roll Radio Hour which consists of Boomer Bill playing Classic Rock n’ Roll tunes from decades past. It was also the broadcast that everyone listened to during the aftermath of Hurricane Michael.

HD2 has for the most part been Elevator music for a very long time.

HD3 is the third broadcast and is reserved for student-run shows, such as Cryptid Radio. During certain terms at Gulf Coast State College, there have been classes to introduce even Digital Media students to the wide world of Radio. These students have the responsibility of running a weekly broadcast on HD3, coming up with concepts and topics, and going on air at their assigned time. One of these student-run broadcasts is Cryptid Radio, where hosts Cera Lawrence and Dawn Jefferies go on air and talk about their self-written story, calling episodes “Creature Features” where they detail local cryptid and anomaly sighting both on and around Campus. WKGC’S HD3 station has been doing their best to bring back HD radio, but primarily their listeners are just people on campus, as well as anyone tuning in online, or just anyone in this age that owns an HD radio.
