Eggs
The Cheapest Power Food
Now that I have covered the chicken let us go over what makes a healthy egg. Eggs are a nutritious source of protein and are only about 70 Calories. They have around 6.3 grams of protein per egg, according to the nutrition label. Eggs are also a good source of calcium and Vitamin A. They do, however, have a lot of cholesterol. Are healthy eggs possible without the yolk? Yes, but they also contain the bulk of the iron and vitamins
Nutrition Cracks: Are Healthy Eggs Possible?
One and one-fourth of egg yolk contains one whole day’s worth of cholesterol, according to Healthline.com. This high cholesterol number can cause a problem if you are looking to watch your heart health. Luckily, nature has provided an easy way around this issue by making it super easy to separate your egg yolk from its white.
Removing the Yolk
One easy hack for separating your egg yolk from its white is garlic. I know that it sounds crazy, but one garlic clove can help you separate your egg. All you have to do is rub your index and thumb on the garlic clove, but beware, your fingers will stink after this. After rubbing the garlic, you can gently grab the yolk right out of the cracked egg, making it healthier. It truly does feel like magic when you get it because if you try this without the garlic, the yolk busts everywhere.
Another cool trick for removing an egg yolk is using the shell to toss the yolk back and forth while letting the white slip between the cracks. This method is a little less messy, but the yolk will fall right into your whites if you mess up. One more method involves an empty water bottle. First, crush the water bottle long ways. Next, take your crunched bottle and stick the nose of it on the yolk of your cracked egg. Hold the bottle by the nose, and pull back the butt end of the bottle, “un-crushing” the bottle. This “un-crushing” creates a suction that grabs the yolk right along with it.
The Versatility of the Egg
What is so nice about the egg is that it is so versatile. Not only is it good on its own, but it also can be used in so many dishes. It has unique properties for adding structure to a dish by holding mixtures together and also plays a role in the rising of a dish. Without eggs, dishes without gluten or flour will not bind at all.
By themselves, eggs have always been a breakfast staple. You can scramble them with salt and pepper for a quick and easy meal. You can spend a little more time and effort after scrambling to make an omelet and stuff it full of peppers, onions, bacon, and cheese for a filling and natural meal. You can fry an egg with a little non-stick solution like olive oil for a nice textured way to start your day. It feels like there are countless options to prepare an egg by itself, but the number multiplies when you consider what healthy eggs are capable of with other foods too.

For an on-the-go option, an egg sandwich or burrito is always a good option. I am a fan of the bacon, egg, and cheese burrito. Quiche is a little more advanced but just as tasty. If you feel like trying out some Asian cuisine, egg drop soup is a staple for most restaurants. All you have to do is boil some chicken broth, which is also cheap, and slowly pour your egg into the broth to cook as it enters the boil. This slow poach method creates the signature texture for the egg drop soup.
On the Go
Especially when meal prepping, eggs can be a lifesaver. First off, eggs come with their own nature-made wrapper! The egg’s shell protects it from getting dirty, so a boiled egg is perfect for taking on the go. Egg white muffins taste awesome and are easy to make in large quantities. This tip allows for a quick breakfast or mid-day snack that is portable and easy to eat.
