Who Is Trent “Honorable Mention” Frazier
Weighing 175 lbs, standing 6-foot 2-inches tall, this senior guard is one of the best that the Fighting Illini have had in some years. He is originally from Wellington, FL, where he attended Wellington High School. After high school he decided to be a part of the University of Illinois. Frazier is majoring in recreation, sport and tourism. This past 2020-21 college basketball season was one of his most impressive.
Frazier’s High School Career
While attending Wellington High School, Frazier averaged 27.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game and led Wellington to a 27-4 record. Not only did they have a good record, they made it all the way to the Semifinals in the Florida Class 9A Tournament. Frazier is holding Wellington’s “all-time leading scorer” position, totaling the number of 1,742 points. His most favorite memory about high school was hitting the game winning free throw with :00.4 seconds left to secure the championship for Wellington as a sophomore.
Joining The Fighting Illini
Frazier has made some impressive plays, accomplishments and stats through all 4 years. 3 out of the 4 years he was with the Illini, he was an honorable mention, in some type of category, for his stats that season. As a freshman he was named “Big Ten All-Freshman Team” and “Honorable mention All-Big Ten”. Then as a Sophomore he was named “Honorable Mention All-Big Ten”. Lastly his senior year he was named “Big Ten All-Defensive Team” and “Honorable mention All-Big Ten”.
Frazier In The Big Ten
Frazier made so many impacts during the regular Big Ten season games. Here are some highlights from his junior season, since his regular season for 2020-21 season aren’t posted yet.
Chester vs. Trent Frazier
Crazy to say this but these two men have both played for the Illini, but are not related. Chester Frazier used to play back in 2008 and is ranked the No. 3 point guard that has played for the Illini. As of right now, he is an assistance coach at Virginia Tech under head coach Mike Young. Trent Frazier came along and actually continued the name of Frazier but brought more attention to it. He had a lot of shows to fit by having that last name, although they are not related. They both were dominate, defensive, scoring machines.
Losing Some Major Teammates
Many players feel that their time there is coming to an end, but they are ready to start the next chapter of their career. A teammate that has had a major impact for the Illini is Ayo Dosunmu. He declared shooting for the NBA Draft this season. He took to his social media to tell the University of Illinois and the Fighting Illini fans that he thanks them for everything they have done for him. Not only is he, but Kofi Cockburn is also declaring the NBA Draft. Those 2 have made a major impact being a dominant duo.
Whats Next For Frazier
Frazier is not going anywhere. As I stated, he’s losing a major scoring machine, Ayo Dosunmu and big man, Kofi Cockburn. In losing so many friends, he will need to step up his game to fill in some shoes. He still has Andre Curbelo, who can make up and produce how Ayo did for the team. In doing so, he has to score more and to continue to do as he does and don’t step off the gas of wanting to win!
