With the rapid rise of college esports, what video games would students love to see turned into an esport here at Gulf Coast State College?
“Call of Duty is my go-to pick for that question,” GCSC Digital Media Major Jonah Wirrick said. “Call of Duty has been around for such a long time and was one of the games that kicked off the esports craze here in the United States.”
Brandon Gonzales, a GCSC Digital Media Major, had two games in mind that he would love to potentially see made into an esports team here at the college.
“If there were to be an esports team here at the college, I would love to see the new Halo or League of Legends be represented here,” Brandon stated. “League of Legends is one of the most popular esports out there right now, and the new Halo is surely going to rise in the esports scene as the months go on.”
When approaching Pj Heckert, another GCSC Digital Media Major, about a game he would love to see as an esport here at Gulf Coast, he instantly had a game in mind.
“Valorant is an easy choice when it comes to that question,” PJ stated. “It is a game made by the company who published League of Legends, so it already has the company name to give it all the reputation it needs.” PJ went on to say that “Along with League, Valorant is one of the most-watched esports out there at the moment.”
Overall, when it comes to the student’s pick, they all have their ideas on a video game that would work perfectly here at Gulf Coast State College. So when it comes to choosing the game, it really comes down to a game that a large group of students is interested in.
