Raise Your Swords For This New Series! ⚔

Orient is a relatively new series based on Shinobu Ohtaka’s manga of the same name and animated by A.C.G.T.

In the land of Hinomoto (which is Japan), terrible monsters called “Kishin” have enslaved humanity to do their bidding. To combat this problem, proud warriors called “Bushi” fight back for humanity’s freedom. The problem is (thanks to mass propaganda), society believes the Kishin are their loving guardians, and the Bushi are horrible criminals. But that won’t stop our two protagonists, Musashi and Kojiro, from chasing their dream of becoming the strongest Bushi in the world!

As of writing this article, this anime only has six episodes, but I like where it’s going so far. It has an exciting premise with a lot of potential for a good story. There is also a lot of fighting and action in this anime, which is standard for the Shonen genre. The animation, while standard, is still pretty good and captures the style of the original manga perfectly. I like the two main characters, Musashi and Kojiro, and how their personalities play off each other (Musashi is the hot-headed wildcard while Kojiro is the calm, collected voice of reason). This contrast in personalities is also exemplified in their designs (Musashi’s being somewhat red and Kojiro’s being somewhat blue). You can tell that the original author put a lot of thought into every aspect of these two characters.

This show is entertaining to watch and is a shining example of what a classic Shonen anime should be. It’s reminiscent of other Shonen series like Bleach or Demon Slayer. If you’re a fan of action-packed, kick-butt anime like those two, I would recommend giving this one a watch.

(not to mention the opening is 🔥🔥🔥)

Hello. My name is Jacob Hanson (you can call me Jake if you like). I am going for my Bachelors in Digital Production at Gulf Coast State College. I like drawing, video games, and most of all, anime and manga (that’s Japanese cartoons and comics for those not in the know). I have an anime review blog called “Jake’s Anime Corner” where I review anime and manga that might be a little more obscure than others (So no Demon Slayer or Attack on Titan. Sorry :P). If you want to find some new anime to watch, why not give it a read. You might find your next favorite show.
