Harry Potter Meets One Punch Man
Mashle: Magic and Muscles is a manga series by Hajime Komoto and published by Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine.
In a world where magic rules all, teenager Mash Burnedead was born without the ability to use magic. Luckily for him, he has another power he can rely on; his overwhelming super-human strength. Unfortunately, the societal rules of this magical world are very strict, so Mash and his adoptive father are forced to hide out in the forest. However, Mash has a run-in with the local authorities one fateful day and he and his father’s cover is blown. Rather than sentencing both of them to execution, the policeman who catches them offers an alternative solution; for Mash to attend Easton Magic Academy to become a Divine Visionary (basically the elites of the magic world). With other real-time magic users aiming for the same goal, can Mash use his muscles to rise through the ranks of his school while also keeping his lack of magic ability a secret?
Now, I know officially this is an anime review blog, but I chose this particular manga because it’s way too good NOT to be an anime. It has everything you could want in an anime. Epic fight scenes, funny, likable characters, and a storyline that goes deeper than what’s on the surface. Each fight in this series is better and more intense than the last. It’s exciting to find out what specific type of magic each bad guy has a god-like control over (literally in some cases). It’s also entertaining to watch Mash pummel said bad guys with his super human strength and sometimes hilarious methods. For example, when he dribbles a magic sphere like a basketball in the first chapter.
Even though nothing’s been confirmed about an anime adaptation of this series yet, I firmly believe one will be coming in the future. Honestly, they’d be crazy not to make this an anime. So keep an eye out for it or, if you can’t wait that long, check the manga out. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Hello. My name is Jacob Hanson (you can call me Jake if you like). I am going for my Bachelors in Digital Production at Gulf Coast State College. I like drawing, video games, and most of all, anime and manga (that’s Japanese cartoons and comics for those not in the know). I have an anime review blog called “Jake’s Anime Corner” where I review anime and manga that might be a little more obscure than others (So no Demon Slayer or Attack on Titan. Sorry :P). If you want to find some new anime to watch, why not give it a read. You might find your next favorite show.
