A Whisker Away is a Netflix exclusive movie that follows a girl who can transform herself from human to cat. How she changes is by using a mask that was given to her by a shady individual. She got the mask because she wanted to be closer to a boy she had feelings for. As a human, the boy does not seem to like her. However, while being a cat, the boy gives her loads of love and attention. These events lead the girl to an important decision. Either she continues her life as a human or carries it out as a cat.
Main Characters
Miyo Sasaki
Miyo Sasaki is the main character of A Whisker Away. She is very energetic and tries to act indestructible at times. However, Miyo gets bullied at school because her mother and father divorced. Miyo is not too fond of her dad’s new significant other but tries to play it off like everything is fine. In addition, her attempts to get closer to the boy she likes as a human has been failing. After using the mask many times to transform herself into a cat, Miyo has to decide. Either continue her life of getting bullied and rejected by the boy she likes, or become a cat and be as close to him as possible.
Kento Hinode
Kento Hinode is the primary male lead in A Whisker Away and Miyo’s love interest. He is a tranquil individual who is typically more friendly toward people he knows. Kento is really into pottery and helps his grandpa, who owns a pottery shop right by his house. However, his’s grandpa is thinking about selling the pottery shop, which hits Kento hard. Luckily, he has a new stray cat that he found to keep him company as he deals with his pottery situation. However, Kento will soon discover that this cat is more than meets the eye.

A Whisker Away is an amazing and stunning anime film that takes the usual cliche of a girl likes a boy and turns it upon its head. The characters are well written, and you can relate to some of them at times. It could bring back memories of when you were in school or make you relate to how you are feeling now. Overall, I would highly recommend this movie to any student trying to find a film to watch.
