Black Fox is a Japanese anime film produced by studio 3Hz and premiered in Japan on October 5rh, 2019. The plot of the film is similar to that of today’s live-action superhero movies. It sets up the origins of a young girl that is the soon-to-be Black Fox.
Main Characters
Rikka Isurugi
Rikka Isurugi is the main protagonist of Black Fox. She is a ninja and detective in training. Rikka was trained by Hyōei Isurugi, her grandpa and ex-Black Fox, from a young age. She eventually becomes the Black Fox after tragedy strikes her family. Allen Isurugi, Rikka’s father, had a past that came back to haunt him which is the cause for Rikka becoming the Black Fox. Her father was very intelligent and an accomplished scientist. He helped create 4 robot companions who accompanied Rikka on her journey as the Black Fox.
Mia
Mia is an esper girl who is being exploited by her father Lauren for his research. Lauren and Rikka’s father Allen used to be long-time friends. However, an incident cut ties between the two and is the main cause of Rikka’s current tragedies. Lauren’s experiments strengthened Mia’s ability and turned her into a powerful telekinetic. Mia and Rikka end up meeting each other early on in the movie with both not knowing the secrets that each other hides.

The visuals for Black Fox are action-packed. If you are looking for an anime film with explosive visuals then this is the right movie for you. WORTH A BREAK FROM YOUR WORK?
Black Fox is certainly a move I would recommend that students watch while taking a break from their schoolwork or jobs. If you are a fan of both anime and superhero movies, then this is a good mix of both. The fight scenes are animated well and the musical score really adds to the emotions/conflicts of the characters. Overall, this is an enjoyable/action-packed movie to watch!
