First up for the Commodores is the volleyball team, who have had an incredible season so far. Last year their record was 14-13 overall, just one more win than loss on their record, and 9-10 in conference. This year however, the team is 17-1, with a 16 game win streak having lost to Pensacola St. on September 28th. Fresh off a win against Andrew College, the Commodores look forward to Pensacola Christian on the 10th and Lake Sumter St. the 14th, both at home. Given how the season has gone, the team is looking unstoppable as they look to build a new win streak.

Next up we have the Men’s Basketball team. Last year the Commodores went 16-12 for the season, with 5-7 for their conference score. The team won more than they lost, but this season they’re looking to expand their total wins and show they have what it takes. At home they went 7-5, away was 3-6, and neutral was 6-1. Away games clearly hurt the team but they could also work on capitalizing their homefield advantage as well. The team still has plenty of time to practice and train before their season kicks off in November. This includes a few events in October including CB Hoops Jam Atlanta on the 2nd, Southeastern Jamboree on the 9th, and All-America on the 15th. Their first game will be away at South Georgia Tech on the 1st of November. After that they’ll play as the Northwest FL St. Tournament in Niceville on the 4th and 5th. The teams first home game will be the on 27th against FCP rounding out a month of tournaments.

Following with the Women’s Basketball team, we see them coming off a 19-10 last season with an 8-5 in conference. The team had a solid season at home and neutral stadiums with 6-1 and 10-2 scores respectively. Where the team struggled was at away games scoring 3-7 in them. This means the team has two goals, keep taking advantage of their homefield advantage and bring some of that energy when they hit the road. Improving performance at away games could be the key to them out performing last season and winning their conferences. They have 2 jamborees in October on the 12th against Albany and the 15th against Chipola. A perfect opportunity to warm up and prepare for their first game on November 2nd against South GA Tech College at home. Their following 2 games against Columbia State on the 5th and DME Academy on the 6th will also be home games.

On to the Baseball team who are coming off a great season with 31-18 overall and 11-13 in conference. To start off their home record was phenomenal at 18-5, showing that the Commodores made the most of their homefield advantage. Where the team struggles was away and neutral fields with 9-10 and 4-3 respectively. The team needs to take extra care to make sure they prepare for hitting the road this season to make sure they don’t have the same struggles this season. This season has seen some rescheduling and canceled games so we look forward to the teams next game, October 4th against Enterprise St. at home. They then meet Enterprise again for an away game on the 11th. After that the team will play South Alabama in an away game on the 14th. The Commodores will face Chipola in Marianna on the 20th before facing them at home on the 28th. Their last game is also on the 28th against Pensacola State at home.

Rounding things out is the Softball team coming off an amazing season with 39-18 overall and 8-12 in conference. Home games and neutral fields resulted in 20-7 and 16-5 scores showing them being great at bringing in wins at home. Where they struggled was away with a 3-6 record, which is where most of their efforts to improve should be directed. Even though the Commodores struggled with away games, if they hold the momentum they had last year we could see another great season out of them this year. The team will face Coastal AL on the 7th and FAMU on the 8th at home. The team will hit the road to face Troy on the 9th before returning for 4 straight home games. On the 15th the Commodores face Powermill and Adiktiv at 2:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. respectively. Then on the 16th they’ll face Auburn and Pearl River at 12:30 P.M. and 3:00 P.M. respectively.

That covers the Commodores so far this fall. Be sure to check back later for more GCSC sports, reviews, and predictions!
