Hunt’s Oyster Bar is a local seafood staple that is only getting better with time. The live music and newly added outside bar make waiting for a table a much more relaxing start to your evening. Once inside, order some appetizers and wait for the singing oyster shuckers to bust out a tune.
Dinner and a Show
The casual atmosphere is a perfect representation of the Panama City lifestyle. We love diving into a plate of mouthwatering seafood in a friendly, no-frills eatery, but my favorite part about visiting Hunt’s is the oyster shuckers. Without the guys behind that counter, it would be a different restaurant. Of course, the food is to die for, but this unique way of entertaining the guests is truly a treat. A song starts to play and they invite the crowd to, “Sing it if you know it!” Not only can they schuck, but they can also carry a tune.
The Perfect Location
The restaurant sits at 1150 Beck Ave in the heart of St. Andrews. In recent years we have seen this area begin to flourish. Once you hit the St Andrews area, it’s as if the air changes. Not only do you smell the salt water, but you feel the presence of fun in the atmosphere. Family Friendly restaurants and music venues are turning this area into a Panama City hot spot. The days of having to travel across the Hathaway for entertainment are over. What makes Hunt’s Oyster Bar stand out is its location, atmosphere, and high-quality seafood.
New Owner, Same Excellent Food
New Owner Greg Abrams, changed very little when he bought the restaurant from Randy Hunt. As a long-time patron, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but he is doing a great job of maintaining the classic oyster bar feel that all appreciate when craving some locally caught seaf0od. There couldn’t have been a more perfect buyer for this spot. Greg also owns Tarpon Dock Seafood Market and Greg Abrams Seafood. It’s apparent that he knows what quality seafood looks and tastes like.
The loud dinner music may be too much for some. However, if you’re ready for an upbeat dining experience, this is your spot. Follow these tips for your next visit.
