Chicago, New York, Los Angeles. When you think of stand-up comedy meccas, Panama City doesn’t necessarily come to mind. That may not be what our calling is. We may not have an arena to sell out or a stadium to fill, but stand-up comedy in small towns has its own charm- and we fit perfectly into that niche.
Not only is it intimidating to enter the big city to follow your dream, but the market is cutthroat. Our quaint little beach town, may not be the cheapest place to live, but we do offer something that is more valuable than any big city’s hustle and bustle: our way of life. It is cherished by all and coveted by many. It is perfect for a comedian who is just starting out. Our backyard is the ocean and stress is quickly dried out by the salt in the air. We’re also serious about a good time. If we can congregate, we do. And what better way to do that than to come together to enjoy some jokes and laugh as a community?

Where do comedians get their material? If you have ever lived in a small town, then you understand the amount of raw material that writes itself. You can’t make this stuff up. What better place for a comedian to call home? The scene here is quickly growing and it’s a wonder why it hasn’t happened sooner. There is an eclectic mix of people here. Panama City has the perfect conditions for a comedian in the making to nourish their talent.
Panama City Comedy
Panama City Comedy is a comedy production team that puts on local shows. They are gaining quite the following. Comedians. Panama City has been screaming for a comedy scene. All it needed was someone to organize it. That’s what Panama City Comedy has done. Multiple venues have hosted shows produced by this organization and received rave reviews with a welcome invitation to return. Similar teams such as High Humidity Humor have sprung up.
Panama City is in the middle of a renaissance. We have live music, art shows, restaurants, festivals, parades, and now live comedy shows. For local up-and-coming comedians, this is the place to be.
