A new year brings a new month of game releases. January of 2023 is no exception bringing many new and exciting titles, such as CyberConnect2’s Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, ILCA, Inc.’s One Piece Odyssey, or Intelligent Systems’ Fire Emblem Engage. I’m here to highlight some of the highest anticipated games in this spotlight. Let’s get to it!
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot
First up on the list is a game that many anime fans will recognize, CyberConnect2’s Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. In this iteration of the Dragon Ball Z saga’s beginnings, you traverse the world as Goku and experience how his story unravels. As well as the tale of the original iconic Dragon Ball Z battles you know but now have more freedom than before with expansive and destructible environments while increasing your power level and surpassing your foes with RPG mechanics. Not only will you experience the story of Dragon Ball Z and its epic events, but you will also live the life of a Z fighter through fishing, flying, eating, training, and battling your way through the Dragon Ball Z sagas. The epic beginning and world of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot comes to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on January 13th, 2023.
One Piece Odyssey
Next is an exciting commemoration for the brand’s 25th anniversary consisting of the staples of the classic JRPG genre with its unique elements ILCA, Inc.’s One Piece Odyssey. Join the voyage of Captain Monkey. D. Luffy and the Straw Hat crew as they find themselves shipwrecked on a lush and mysterious island Waford. Set out on a new and exciting journey alongside Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew as they learn the secrets of Watford through RPG mechanics and the magic of the One-Piece universe. Players can explore the island with a wide selection of the lovable Straw Hat Crew, including Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Franky, and Brook. Help the Crew set sail from Watford starting January 13th, 2023, on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Fire Emblem Engage
From the developers of Intelligent Systems comes the next installment to the Fire Emblem franchise, Fire Emblem Engage. One thousand years after, the fierce and evil Fell Dragon has sealed away. His seal began to weaken and threaten the Continent of Elyos. As the Divine Dragon, you must collect the 12 Emblem rings to bring peace back to the continent using a new strategy, customization mechanics, and the all-new Engage system that adds new layers to this turn-based tactical RPG. Embark on this journey of the Fire Emblem saga solely on the Nintendo Switch on January 20th, 2023.
