Bringing more businesses into Panama City
When comparing Panama City Beach to Panama City you tend to go to the first option as there is more there to offer when it comes to food and fun. However, I do think there is a need to bring in more business and more fun activities for residents so it’s not so boring to live here. Panama City is lacking when it comes to day or night life due to there not being much to do. There are locations that would be great and would bring in people to be able to shop, have fun and maybe discover something new.
Panama City Mall Location
The Panama City Mall location would be ideal for setting up either a new mall with a new building or a small market area with different businesses. Exploring both options would be great as people do miss having a mall in Panama City as they didn’t have to go all the way out to the beach just to do some shopping for the holidays. It was also a safer option to shop in the mall because of the traffic that would appear on the beach. With the traffic and sometimes accidents due to poor driving or other means it makes going all the way out to the beach look less and less appealing. Bringing something back on the other side of the beach would also bring in more revenue for Panama City and may help other small businesses during this time get started in what they would like to do. Either way if the mall is rebuilt or if multiple shops are put in its place, it would be regardless a benefit for Panama City. It’s a much better option than letting the property sit and not being used for much else other than the use of the gym, theater, and the two clothes shopping centers attached to the building. There is a plan for the mall property to be getting rezoned and possibly something added in the mall’s place, but I have yet to find any information that contains a date as to when that may happen. However, if it does happen it would bring in a lot of revenue into Panama City and give residents something to do instead of staying at home and going to the same locations to look around and eat.
Adding a strip somewhere in the Panama City area
The Miracle Strip was in pier park but what if something like that was added back into Panama City? There would have to be a good location for it but it would be a great addition to give residents something to do. It would also bring back memories for those residents who used to go to the Strip before it was torn down. Adding something like this back would give older residents something that they missed going to and would give them an old memory back. This may make it a hit with residents and tourists who remembered and visited the Strip before it was torn down.
