The Fishbowl is a radio studio for Gulf Coast and has a radio station called the Alternation Radio. It is at Gulf Coast State College at Panama City Florida and has students helping work with the radio stations for digital media.
Professor Jordan is teaches about radio and shows how to handle the fishbowl and radio controls. The Fishbowl has been around for five years since 2019 with Hurricane Michael at Panama City, Florida. The Fishbowl still manages to stay up here in 2023 at Gulf Coast State College. It is called The Fishbowl because anyone in there will be known as little fish working the station WKGC a 24 hour radio station that has been serving Panama City DMA (Designed Market Area) since 1975. Dana Ernskine quoted “The fishbowl got its name by being a big glass room and students can see everything that’s going on”.
The Logo for The Fishbowl Studio was made by Jacob Hanson who is the illustrator and graphic designer for the studio. Caleb Jordan said “The fishbowl is to my mind the third studio the alternations had”.
The Fishbowl is located at the student union east at Gulf Coast. The studio is open from 7 in the morning to 8 at night. The fishbowl has computers, soundboards, microphones. The student union east was the fishbowls choice to be at because it is a place where students can eat, have fun, and hangout with each other. The Fishbowl is also visible to the outside of the student union near the tables outside. The fishbowl has bright LED lights that come on at night when people work on the music and radio and people can view at the lights from the outside. The Fishbowl has 15 to 20 DJs. There is DJ Hello Karen, Hustle and push ups with DJ Phat Tiger and Pop Icon Radio with David.
