Summer is vastly approaching, and most college students are on a tight budget. So here are some fun things student suggested for summer break.
Maria’s Suggestions
The first few suggestions are from Maria Spicer, “You can go to the beach with friends and if you need food you can get cheap food from a convenience store.” With the luxury of living on the beach comes with the disadvantage of people who vacation at the beach. So if students are looking for a not so crowded beach there are a few places they can go. Mexico Beach and Crooked Island beach are both great options that tourist do not know about. Another option for students that are on a tighter budget, and want to have a picnic, they can pack food and drinks from home to save even more money.
Rain’s Suggestions
The next suggestions also came from a student. This is what Rain Braddam suggested students can do, “You can go to the library and have a picnic outside. Another option is go to a local park and go on the swing-set.” The Library at school has picnic tables outside that students can eat at. Students can still come on campus during the summer. There are also picnic tables at the Bay Area across the street next to FSU. In town and near campus there are parks student can go to for free.
Summer Events on Campus
During the summer GCSC’s SGA holds fun and free events for students. In the past they have had movie nights, luaus, and so much more. This allows students to have fun activities during summer that are at no cost to them. To find out information about activities you can go to the SGA instagram page @gcsc_sga.
Closing Remarks
All in all there are so many opportunities for students to have a great summer within their budget. There are so many free options out there to do. These are just a few to help get ideas going.
