Marisa Weiman could be described as many things. Either a modern businesswoman, a social butterfly, or a well-rounded spirit, but she is best known as the station manager of the Alternation at Gulf Coast State College.
While she grew up wanting all the classic things a little girl dreams of, such as a music career or her own salon, Weiman always found the common thread of media in her life. She states she’s “always been into video cameras” and that every year she would ask her mom for a camera to record home videos.
Despite this love for video tech, she found herself pulled in many directions in college, one of those pathways being foreign language. However, after much back and forth and realizing that “you never know what you want to do at eighteen,” Weiman eventually decided on a degree in production and soon after started her career at the college.
No matter how busy she is, Marisa always makes time for “lifelong friends” she has made on campus and often turns to them for advice when the job gets tough. She says that she adores the community that has been crafted in the Digital Media Department, and those friendships led to a smooth transition into her current role. While she always keeps “it professional at work,” she plans on living it up by traveling as much as possible and hopefully living the Golden Girls lifestyle after retirement, as she just wants to bunk with all her best friends and enjoy life after her career.
It’s challenging to capture Marisa Weiman’s infectious energy in words, so you can check out my interview with her linked in the article. With a laugh that lights up a room and a fiery passion for media, you won’t be disappointed by the station manager of the Alternation.
