What is STEAM Day?
Known as an acronym for the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics aspects of education, STEAM Day is celebrated on November 8th every year. According to a post on National Today, STEAM-based programs help propel society forward, creating a space for collaboration and creativity among students across various age groups.
How did the Center for Student Media get involved?
Gulf Coast State College, Tempest, and the Center for Student Media all participated in the STEAM Day hosted by the Bay Haven Charter Academy. Volunteers engaged with students from grades K-8, and groups discussed their respective specialties, including search and recovery, conservation work, and weather reporting. Students were able to interact with different equipment and explore the inside of the Gulf Coast vehicles.
