Welcome To The Midday Cafe
Your host Jane here, welcoming you to PLAYBACK with the Midday Cafe! Today’s show highlighted two recent releases from alternative/indie artist John Vincent III, and instrumental band BADBADNOTGOOD featuring Charlotte Day Wilson. I hope you enjoyed the music as much as I did, but if you didn’t get a chance to listen, here’s a taste of what we played. It’s time to take a little break from work, grab a good drink, and dive into today’s music highlights.
John Vincent III | Bluebird Singing
Hailing from Houston, Texas, singer-songwriter John Vincent III released his newest album, “Songs For The Canyon,” on November 17th to rave reviews from his fans and critics. Vincent first rose to fame in 2019 after releasing his debut album, “Songs From The Valley,” which garnered critical acclaim. While the lead single, “Highway Women,” has been on listeners’ playlists since its release, the fourth single on the album, “Bluebird Singing,” should not be ignored. It has a refreshing melody for the fall season and is admittedly hard not to hum along with. Imagine setting off on a scenic autumn road trip with your best friend. The two of you are driving through winding mountain roads, surrounded by a kaleidoscope of colorful leaves gently dancing around you. That is the best way I can describe “Bluebird Signing” and the whole album. With transcendent melodies and instrumentals, it’s no wonder John Vincent III has acquired 1.8 million listeners a month on Spotify.
BADBADNOTGOOD (feat. Charlotte Day Wilson) | Sleeper
Instrumental band BADBADNOTGOOD has partnered with singer-songwriter Charlotte Day Wilson to bring Indie fans the soul-stirring single “Sleeper.” Wilson’s enchanting melodic vocals, accompanied by the jazzy, upbeat instrumentals of BADBADNOTGOOD, have created a sound fit for the cold weather ahead of us. It must also be noted, that this is not the first collaboration we’ve seen from these two. The two Canadian-based artists first partnered up in 2016 to give us “In Your Eyes,” from the instrumental band’s fourth studio album, “IV,” which currently garners over 63 million streams on Spotify. Fans have waited a long time for another collaboration, and their patience has been rewarded just in time for the holiday season.
