Things are about to get musical, because Gulf Coast State College is planning two special events at the Amelia Center Performance Hall: Faculty and Friends Music Recital and An Evening of Showtunes. Let us talk about the two events.
Faculty and Friends Music Recital
According to the GCSC event calendar, this event consists of an afternoon concert, performed by the college’s faculty and friends. The faculty directory of Visual & Performing Arts is made up of multiple professors, assistant professors, associate professors, and Jennifer McAtee of the faculty. The concert itself will open to the public on Sunday, April 16th (2:30 PM – 4:00 PM). There is absolutely no cost in order to attend, but the VPA scholarship fund will accept donations during the event.
An Evening of Showtunes
This second upcoming concert event is, as stated in the event website, a tribute to Broadway by the Intro to Musical Theatre class. The Introduction to Musical Theatre class offers a study of musical theatre analysis, creation, and performance applied through the study of voice, dance, and acting, according to GCSC’s Theatre Performance/Training webpage. The event will be also be free and open to the public, on Friday, April 21st (7:30 PM – 9:30 PM), and the Ray H. Stanley Memorial Musical Theatre Scholarship fund will be accepting donations from those who are able to participate.
While you wait for Faculty and Friends Music Recital and/or An Evening of Showtunes, GCSC will also be hosting an afternoon Spring Music Concert at the Amelia Center Performance Hall with The Singing Commodores, Jazz Ensemble, the Concert Chorale, and Concert Band.
