Panama City, FL – The Visual & Performing Arts Division of Gulf Coast State College presents Paradise Revisited by Michelle Jones. The rich, colorful paintings in the exhibit are inspired by the landscape of the Gulf Coast. Just like the Gulf Coast, they are at once dazzling and confrontational. The beauty of the images draws you in, only to reveal the surprises within.
Michelle Jones, is a native of central Mississippi. She received her BFA in painting from the University of Mississippi and her MFA from Massachusetts College of Art. After a decade in Boston, she returned to the South and now resides in Mobile, AL. Her recent solo exhibitions include the Alabama Contemporary Art Center and the Kentucky Art Center. She was recently awarded a 2024 Individual Arts Fellowship from Alabama State Council on the Arts.
- The exhibit runs from January 26 to February 23 in the Amelia Center for the Arts Gallery
- Opening reception: Friday, January 26, from 5pm–7pm (Michelle will present a talk during the reception)
- Gallery hours are Monday–Thursday, 10am–6pm; Friday, 10am–4pm
- Admission is free and open to the public
