Press Release from Brittany Weisensale
Panama City, FL– GCSC’s Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program is hosting an Open House on Tuesday, February 6th, 2024, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm CST in the PTA Lab in the Health Sciences Building, Room 329.
Attendees will tour the lab and equipment utilized in the PTA program, as well as receive guidance for completing the PTA program application packet.
“Our team is excited to welcome the community to our Open House,” said Melinda Cumbaa PTA Program Coordinator. “With recent changes that have been made to the PTA program application, this event is an ideal opportunity for prospective students to learn more about how to apply and get their questions answered.”
The Gulf Coast PTA program trains skilled healthcare professionals to deliver physical therapy services under the guidance of a physical therapist (PT). This may include guiding patients through therapeutic exercises, applying physical agents like heat and cold, and communicating with the PT as the patient’s medical condition changes. Students in the GCSC PTA program are prepared to take on these roles, receiving comprehensive training in therapeutic exercises, flexibility, balance/coordination, mobility, and more while in the program.
The PTA program at GCSC is a two-year Associate in Science (A.S.) degree, and graduates have the opportunity to test for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
