Porter Robinson | Look at the Sky
Released in 2020 off his album Secret Sky, Porter Robinson’s “Look at the Sky“ is a song about having hope even in our darkest times. Porter Robinson is a Grammy-nominated artist, and most of you probably know him from his 2016 viral hit titled “Shelter.” Right now, he is gearing up for his “SMILE! 😀 WORLD TOUR” set to kick off on August 29th, although tickets are already on sale. The closest he’ll be to Panama City is Atlanta Georgia, at the Coca-Cola Roxy. I’ve been a fan since the release of “Shelter,” and I may have to snag some tickets. For first-time listeners, If I could recommend any of his songs, I’d have to choose one of my favorites titled “Something Comforting” from his Nurture album.
Hozier | Too Sweet
Hozier’s “Too Sweet” from his newest album Unheard, was released this year, and I’m sure you’ve heard it all over the place. This song was recommended to me by a friend, and it did not disappoint. The sensual lyrics and melody, mixed with a tempo of 117 BPM, helped the song debut at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and later climb to number one. This hasn’t been achieved by an Irish act since 1990 by Sinéad O’Connor, with her song “Nothing Compares 2 U.” Currently, he is in the middle of his “Unreal Unearth Tour,” which has been so successful they added 20 new dates back in January.
Chappell Roan | Good Luck Babe!
Our last music highlight is “Good Luck Babe!” by Chappell Roan from the album of the same title, released in 2024. Recently, she blew up after performing as the opening act for Olivia Rodrigo during her “GUTS” tour, but she also opened for Olivia during her ‘SOUR” tour in 2022. With this song, she has reached a milestone by entering the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number forty-four as of April 27th. Her music is reminiscent of pop stars of the 80s like Cindy Lauper and Madonna, with her catchy lyrics, infectious synths, and eye-catching performances and wardrobe. Like Hozier, she is in the middle of her tour titled “Midwest Princess”.
