Cedar Rapids, IA – In a nail-biting second-round clash last night at the 2024 NJCAA DII National Volleyball Championship, the 6th-seeded Lady Commodores outlasted the 11th-seeded Lady Blue Devils of Kansas City Kansas Community College in a thrilling five-set battle.
The Lady Commodores were led by standout freshman outside hitter Danna Aguilera, who delivered an incredible performance with 25.5 points, 23 kills, and 29 digs, solidifying her impact on both offense and defense.
The setter duo of freshmen Melany Salazar and Gianna DeRosa played a pivotal role, combining for 51 assists (Salazar with 28 and DeRosa with 23) and contributing from the service line with three aces between them. Sophomore libero Morgan Langley anchored the defense with a stellar 36 digs, showcasing her consistency and leadership in the backcourt.
With this victory, the Lady Commodores advance to the quarterfinals to face 3rd-seeded Kirkwood Community College on Thursday, November 21st, at 7:30 PM CST.
