Press Release from Liz Kasey

Freshman Danna Aguilera has made Gulf Coast history! She is the first player for the Gulf Coast State College Volleyball program to earn NJCAA DII First Team All-American honors.
Danna had an amazing season, and her standout moment came at the 2024 NJCAA DII Volleyball Championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She helped the Lady Commodores to their first win with an incredible game against Kansas City Kansas Community College, scoring 25.5 points, 23 kills, and 29 digs! By the end of the tournament, Danna had racked up 62 kills, 89 digs, and 4 service aces, earning her a spot on the 2024 NJCAA DII Volleyball All-Tournament Team.
Aguilera lead the team in kills with 391(3.55 kills per set), 436.5 total points, 32 service aces, accumulated 399 digs (3.63 digs per set), and finished the year with a .242 hitting percentage. She earned the 5th highest in GC Volleyball history with her 391 kills during the 2024 season.
She was named FCSAA DII Offensive Player of the Week and earned the 2024 Dulcie “Cookie” Stevens Award for FCSAA DII Player of the Year. Aguilera earned FCSAA DII All-Tournament Team, DII All-FCSAA/All-NJCAA Region 8, awarded First-Team honors for the All-Sun-Lakes Conference, and was named Conference Player of the year.
Head Coach Scott Allen had high praise for Danna:
“Danna is the type of player that every coach in the country wants the chance to coach; early to the gym, late to leave, first to be in the weight room, does anything you ask, never complains, and all of her teammates love her. She’s never too high, never too low, just a super solid competitor that can do it all on the court. She’s absolutely one of the best pin hitters in the country, and she’s very undersized. People have doubted her because of that. She’s proven them all wrong. The small quiet warrior has spoken with her game, a no-doubt ALL AMERICAN.”
