Gear Stick Modifications
In the previous article of this series, I mentioned seat covers as a good start to customizing your car. In this passage I will go into a little more depth with the customization choices you have for the interior. If you’ve decided to pick out seat covers already, adding a fun gear shift cover won’t hurt at all!
Gear Stick Covers
Gear stick covers are exactly what they sound like. They cover the outside of your gear shift, adding to the aesthetic and personalization of your vehicle. There are several different types of covers however, one of those being the typical and easy soft type that just slide on. This will be your cheapest option, as they typically range around five dollars. You can find these online on Amazon, Etsy, or at stores such as Target. Here is are two examples of these stick covers.
Knob Replacers
Now, if that’s a little too tacky for your tastes, there is a second option for gear stick customizations. These are the knob replacing modifications. Although pricier, they offer a more polished look. The installation process for these are fairly easy, with a quick twist or a gentle pull, the original shift knob should come off without issue. Here are some examples of this kind of customization.

Depending on your vehicles orientation, your gear stick will differ from one car to another. Be sure to find the right fit for yours, whether it’s a an automatic or manual. Even if you prefer something smaller over a cover, a bracelet-like adornment for your gear stick is another great option. Overall, have fun choosing your modification!
