Ever had this happen to you? You bolt awake from a deep sleep. You notice the amount of natural light in your room is more than normal. You look at your phone and you have 10 minutes to get to class. So, you decide to skip breakfast and leave as fast as possible. This common occurrence leaves today’s students going to class unnourished and lacking drive to stay awake.
Creation Explanation
When attending Gulf Coast State College there should be no excuse to not stay fully nourished throughout the day. This is mainly coming from their own cafeteria, but let’s say you can’t make a pit stop at the Union East building. There are more ways to grab food than just the cafeteria. The Wellness Center contains vending machines with protein shakes and more for a smaller, grab and go meal.
If you have any free time between classes around 11:30-1:00 food trucks will stop in, north of the student union buildings. These can vary but students have reported frequent combos of a panini truck, smash burger truck, snow cone truck, and a mexican style truck. If you do prep meals for future days, the cafeteria possesses more than just a microwave to make your own meals.
While students are correct in their own right to choose where they want to eat whether it’s on or off campus. For the students who can’t take time and sit down, you need to find a source of food. Putting off any core meal of the day can lead to a slippery slope of unexpected health risks that can put your life in a deep hole. It seems harmless, just letting one meal go by. What that is doing is creating a calorie deficit in your body which then puts you in a decline and leads to less vitamins, fiber, etc. being absorbed into your body.
