Game Recap
The Boll Weevils, eager to take action, kicked off the scoreboard with the first point in the game; however, the Commodores responded quickly by scoring five points of their own by the bottom of the first.
The Commodores later added two points at the end of the third inning with the Boll Weevils following close behind with two additional points of their own at the top of the fourth.
Later as the Commodores approached the ninth, they held the lead at 9-7 until scoring an additional point that ended the game.
Coaches Thoughts
Head Coach Younger shared some thoughts on the game beforehand. In an interview, he chose to comment on what he wants his players to take from this Fall Season:
“It’s not necessarily about who we play, it’s about playing against the game itself.”
According to Coach Younger, the Fall season is about showcasing the player’s abilities and demonstrating what they are capable of. He believes this season will allow the athletes to capitalize on areas where they may be struggling, and enable them to train and improve.
Based on their performance in the Bull Pen in the last few weeks, the pitching staff was commended by Coach Younger in the interview. Their ability was noted on Tuesday’s game against Enterprise. The Commodores showcased five different pitchers: Glenn Simes (#23), Matthew McElligott (#21), Tyler Petersen (#25), Ethan Lizama (#13), and Austin Kapela (#4).
