The Gulf Coast State Commodores baseball program has been opening eyes with their relevance in developing talent, with two of their very own players aiding the Atlanta Braves in the pursuit of playing in the world series for the first time since 1999. On Oct 27, 1999, the Braves fell to the New York Yankees in game four of the World Series. The Braves lost to the Yankees four to one. With the talent of our former commodore alumni, maybe they can help boost the series back to the top.
I decided to ask an avid Major League fan from the Panama City area, Chuck D’Agostin, 48, his thoughts on Gulf Coast State’s baseball program and how he would feel about his kid enrolling for their athletics program. He stated, “Will Smith is a decent closer; they made NLCS and eliminated the Brewers in 4 games, three to one. I hope they win it, but the Dodgers and Giants are tough. When it comes to my child enrolling, it would depend on their Academic quality; I think they have the athletics side covered. He went on to compliment the program, “It’s pretty impressive that our local college right here has developed this level of professional talent.”
Looking forward to who the Braves face next will depend on game five when the National League Championship starts Saturday night on TBS against Las Angeles Dodgers and San Fransisco Giants.
