The semester is hitting the halfway point now as we crawl towards Halloween. The GCSC sports season continues to ramp up so let’s see how the teams are doing so far!
GCSC Volleyball

First up we have the GCSC Volleyball team who are beginning to reach the end of their season. After coming back with a 3-game win streak, the Commodores were dealt just their second loss this season by St. John’s River State. Their last game against Pearl River resulted in another win, bringing their score to 20-2. An incredible season for the team as they look towards their final games. The next game will be at home against Pensacola State, the only other team the Commodores have lost to this season, on the 19th.
GCSC Softball

Next up is the GCSC Softball team. The team is coming off a good season with a score of 39-18 for 2022. The Commodores are currently rounding out the year with some exhibition games. The last two games were on the 26th with GCSC facing Auburn at 12:30 P.M. and Pearl River at 3:00 P.M. Their last exhibition game will be Wednesday the 19th against AL. Fury at 5:00 P.M. After that last game, all that’s left is to wait and see how the team’s training pays off next season.
GCSC Baseball

The GCSC Baseball team find themselves in the same state as the Softball team. They are finishing out the 2022 post season with some exhibition games. The next game up is Chipola on the 20th. On the 28th they play Chipola again at 11:00 A.M. EDT. The final game of 2022 will be against Pensacola State on the 28th at 6:30 P.M. After that the only thing left is training and preparing for January. The team is coming off a 31-18 season as they continue training for the 2023 season.
GCSC Women’s Basketball

Baseball and Softball may be preparing for next year, but the Women’s Basketball team are getting ready for their season to start next month. After a few exhibitions earlier this month the team are hard at work training for their season opener in November. The Commodores first game will be a home game against South Georgia Tech on November 2nd at 7:30 P.M. Their next match will be an away game against Santa Fe on the 8th at 5:30 P.M. Following that will be a home game against Georgia Highlands on the 11th at 5:00 P.M. On the 12th the Commodores will play against Central Georgia Tech at Marianna. This will kick off the Chipola College Classic and make three of the first 4 games against Georgia colleges.
GCSC Men’s Basketball

Rounding out this GCSC sports season report is the Men’s Basketball team. They are coming off an exhibition match against Santa Fe as part of the TCC Jamboree. Their first game matches the Women’s basketball team. They will be playing an away game against South Georgia Tech on the 1st at 7:00 P.M. On the 11th they’ll be traveling to Rome, Georgia, to play against Central Georgia Tech as part of the Dana Davis Classic. Next up and still in Rome, Georgia, will be a game against Georgia Highlands on the 12th at 3:00 P.M. The 18th will be another match against Georgia Highlands but with the teams meeting at Marianna. This makes the first 4 games against Georgia teams for the Commodores.
With that we see one season coming to an end, two more on the heels of their first game, and the final two biding time for next year. The Volleyball is having a phenomenal season and setting a mark for the other teams to aim for in terms of performance. Which teams will meet it? Which will come up short?
