Midterms are vastly approaching and so is the stress. I interviewed real students at Gulf Coast State College to see how they fight the stress and anxiety that comes from midterms.
Malachi’s Way
The first student I interviewed was a Digital Media student named Malachi Miller. “Most of my midterms are online, so I have the capability to do them before their official due date. So, I type out a schedule for times to study and times to take my test so I can spread them out more opposed to them being stacked all on the same day. I am an over achiever so I like to get my midterms out of the way as soon as I feel ready to take them.” This is what Malachi does to help fight the stress.
Charlee’s Way
When it comes to midterms the important thing to do is not procrastinate studying, and actually taking the exams if they are online. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time. Another thing though is to take care of yourself and not over work yourself. Charlee Walker who is a nursing student had a some great tips on how she finds peace in the storm that is midterms. “Find a relaxing place to study! I like to go to almavida coffee downtown, or sit outside and do it, go to a park, anything like that. I also make myself be productive to relax. I will also do skin care, maybe a face mask, take a hot shower, lotion myself up, maybe do a load of laundry, gets me relaxed and in the zone!”
Jada’s Way
Did you know that taking walks and exercising actually helps release dopamine and serotonin. Well one student named Jada talks walks among other things to help relieve stress. This is what she had to say, “I watch my favorite tv shows, take walks, and I live on base so I go to the marina at the beach are take walks there.” -Phycology Student, Jada Z.
Closing Remarks
There are so many ways to help fight the stress that midterms bring these are just somethings students do. As a student you have to find what works for you these are just some ideas!
