Welcome to the Midday Cafe
Fill up your coffee cup and get comfortable for this week’s recap of Midday Cafe. If you didn’t get a chance to catch the show, on Fridays from 3 -4, you can check out the music highlight below. Who knows, maybe you’ll find your new favorite song for the summer.
Gracie Abrams | Risk
Filled with lyrics anyone embarking on a new relationship can relate to, Risk by Gracie Abrams is set to be the backtrack to many summer crushes. Risk comes from her new album, “The Secret of Us,” releasing on June 21st. This is her second studio album following her debut album “Good Riddance,” released just last year. Recently, she had the chance to perform the title track live on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The song has been well-received by fans and has garnered a lot of attention, with critics predicting the album’s success.
Billie Eilish | Lunch
Billie Eilish’s, song Lunch from her third studio album “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” released May 17th, is currently sitting at number 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart and number 1 on the US Hot Rock & Alternative Songs Chart. She debuted the song at Coachella with two other songs from the album as part of a secret DJ set. She also directed the music video, which features callbacks to the video style of the ’90s, not only because her wardrobe consists of oversized t-shirts and grillz but because of the fisheye lens and oversaturated colors.
Twenty-One Pilots | Midwest Indigo
Known for expertly blending different music styles, Twenty-One Pilot’s music often blurs the lines when discussing what genre they fit into. “Midwest Indigo” incorporates 80s synths and 2000s punk beats, melting into an alternative feast for the ears. From their seventh studio album “Clancy” released on May 24th, the music video for Midwest Indigo was released the same day as the album. The duo consisting of frontman Tyler Joseph and drummer Josh Dun, will be going on a world tour in support of the album amply titled “Clancy World Tour.” It was announced that the tour will consist of 70 shows across four continents beginning on August 15th.
