With eleven days left to visit the exhibit Quarantine, reviews of the event have been drawing people in to take a look. The reason for the success? Students find the exhibit relatable and reflect the stages of the virus around the world. Many have come out of the exhibit praising the creativity and talent of our art students. Julian age twenty, is quoted saying, “It is a very interesting exhibit that I can’t help but keep visiting.” He also went on to say that he recommends going at least once before it’s too late. On display are a variety of different art forms including, pottery, ceramics, painting, and quilting. They do not only portray the reaction to the pandemic but what people from across the world are currently dealing with as a result of the late response. One Erin Wright has his poster on display honoring all the men and women on the front line trying to help stop the spread of Covid-19 titled “Hero”. Others have decided to display the toll this has taken on many people’s emotional and mental health. Sculptures displaying despair, and paintings of the dark days that we have braved and the many more to come. Xavier Raley age twenty-one has stated “I could relate to the artwork on display as I have gone through many of the same experiences since quarantine.” Through his pandemic, we have learned to rely on each other and many people’s true colors have shown. We have lost loved ones without a chance to say goodbye. We have grown accustomed to this new way of living and are still hopeful for the day we can take off our mask and take a deep breath once again. This is what Quarantine represents. It is not too late to see this exhibit for yourself, the last day to visit is November 6th in the Amelia Center Gallery.
