Giovanni Lago, who goes by Gio, is a Gulf Coast State College student. Gio goes to campus Monday through Friday. Since the Covid virus, all of his classes are online. Gio mostly goes to campus to get a good workout in for the day. He also stops into financial aid throughout the week.
Gio lives on the beachside of Panama City, across the bridge from the Gulf Coast campus. The drive is not too bad he says, only if he doesn’t hit traffic, but even then it’s still not a bad drive at all. His music and podcasts make the drive much more enjoyable for him of course. When Gio gets tired from work, these always help to keep him awake during all the driving back and forth he has to do.
His go-to music and podcasts to listen to are:
- R&B
- Rap
- Movie scores
- Film podcasts
- Comedy podcasts (Bodega Boys)
Long Day
Gas for Gio’s car will usually last him about a week before he has to refill again. His travel time takes him about 15 minutes one way, 30 minutes round trip. Gio works past campus in town, which takes him another 15 minutes from campus to work. Gio works the early morning shift at a news station. One downside Gio has about commuting is when he has had such a long day from work, he will miss his turn into school. Since the campus is on his way home he accidentally will drive past the school. Gio would prefer living on campus if they offered. Gio does appreciate the fact that the school is not out of the way while he is on his way home.
In conclusion, Gio doesn’t have such a long drive like some, but I thought it would be interesting to get an insight from his perspective on his commuting experience on a daily. Gio is a hard worker and a good student.
